Question: How did you vote on H.R. 2587, the Protecting Jobs from Government Interference Act?

Answer: With my support, on September 15, the House of Representatives approved H.R. 2587, by a vote of 238-186.

H.R. 2587 removes another obstacle to private-sector job creation and long-term economic growth. This legislation blocks the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) from telling businesses where they can and can’t create new jobs. The bill would amend the National Labor Relations Act to prohibit the NLRB, in future and pending cases, from ordering any employer to close, relocate, or transfer employment under any circumstances. The legislation would effectively prevent the NLRB from restricting where an employer can create jobs in the United States. The bill would eliminate an extreme enforcement remedy available to the board, but more than a dozen alternative remedies remain available to hold employers accountable for unlawful labor practices and make employees whole. The bill would apply to any complaint for which a final adjudication by the NRLB has not been made by the date of enactment.

I’m hopeful that the Senate will now join us in taking swift action, and help give American job creators the certainty they need to plan and put Americans back to work.
