Question: What will happen if the federal government is shut down?
Answer: I want to keep the government open and cut spending to bring down the government's historic deficit. However, it is possible government funding may lapse, resulting in a shutdown of the federal government.
While not all government functions will cease during a shutdown, most services will. Only what is deemed as essential services will remain open and functioning. Each executive branch agency uses its own discretion to determine what is essential versus non-essential. That is not a decision made by Congress.
I know everyone wants to know how the possible shutdown will affect them personally. Therefore, I have provided a link to questions and answers related to the potential effects of a government shutdown.
Again, it is my hope that Congress and the President will begin to put America's affairs in order without shutting down the government. That is the task I am currently working on.

Please vote to cut 60 billion from the federal budget, standing firm on cutting Planned Parenthood and funding the military.
It is so distressing that our government is so politically divided that they can not agree on a budget. This division is going to shut down our government to the detriment of our military! Why are we hung up on Planned Parenthood? No abortions are paid for out of federal funds today as it is illegal. If we are truly concerned about budget cuts (instead of political agendas), why does Congress continue to get paid during a shutdown of the government, but our military who are out there on a the front lines do not get paid? Please reconsider your position.
Please do not vote to raise the debt ceiling.
When doctors go on strike at hospitals less patients die. Let's have the congress go to three months a year like some rural states, so that all the sows and hogs need to go home for a real job. I say close the govenment for nine months every year
